A Bench By Ron Kittle

While in Chicago we stopped at Connie’s Pizza which is one of my favorite places to eat. When I lived near Chicago I went there often. I hadn’t been in years until this trip. In the entryway sits a bench made by White Sox legend Ron Kittle. When I was a kid I always loved his story. He was from Gary like my mother and attended an open tryout. He got a contract from the Sox and was a huge part of that great Winning Ugly season of 1983. He was the rookie of the year and made the All Star Game which was at Comiskey. As an adult it is always surreal to me that the first person to wish me happy birthday on Facebook every year is Ron. Seeing a bench made by him on our trip was a fun way to kind of cap the day.

The Way To Milwaukee

The theme this week is all about my trip to Milwaukee at the end of August. It was my 50th birthday so we found some things that make me happy along the way. It was a fun trip and this week we will look at some of the stops that I really enjoyed. Some of them were planned, and others not so much. It was a fun drive and worthy of a week of posts.
