The Week In Sports

The Week That Was In Sports

This was a light week for sports photography. I think that I went to way too many events the week before. As I was photographing my lone event Saturday morning I realized that my body was telling me that I needed to chill a little. I love to go crazy to start the year, but lugging the gear around takes it out of you a little. I ended up with that lone match this week. This coming week I have volleyball and my first college football game of the year to look forward to.

Travelling Light

After carrying heavy gear all week I really went light to the soccer game on Saturday. I just had my 200-600mm lens with a wide in my bag. The 200-600 is not the my favorite lens anymore, but with a little contrast adjustment it starts to look ore like my other lenses. When you just want one lens the 200-600mm lens gives you a nice range especially for soccer.

Following One Player

In the first half I was in a position to make photos of Morgan the goalie. I have made photos of Morgan since she went to preschool with my oldest. It is so cool to see her leading her team from the goal. With the 600mm end of my lens I could still get stuff at the other end of the field, but I could concentrate on the goalie which is always cool. Soccer is a weird sport to photograph when you are just one person. Of course you want those goal photos. The goal and the celebration is often what will get people to look at your gallery. The goalie at the other end of the field can get neglected to get those photos. Here I tried to give the goalie a little attention.

More Photos From The Week

Below are a few bonus photos that I liked from the week. Last week this section was huge. This week it is much more manageable.
