Hanging Out At LaPorte City Hall

Spending Time At City Hall In LaPorte

When I was younger the mayor of LaPorte seemed like the President to me. He was this man in power. My mother worked at City Hall so I was there quite a bit after school. Right inside of those doors was the staircase that went upstairs to where the mayor’s office was. That staircase was lined with photos of all of the former mayors of LaPorte. I used to stare at them like they were the photos on my baseball cards. I probably spent way too much time on those stairs as a kid. When my father was working nights I would watch the council meetings from upstairs. I think that early exposure to politics really made me love it. Of course politics has really changed over the years, and I have come to not really like it anymore. It was fun back then to dream of one day being on that wall. That will never happen now, but those memories always flood back when I see this building.

50 For 50

This is going to be a crazy theme. For the next fifty days I plan on posting a photo of a place that has some meaning to me. Last August I came up with a theme for a week showing some Purdue memories. At the end of this fifty days I will turn fifty. I thought that it would be fun to take a look back at some places that bring back memories for me. This can’t be an all inclusive list, but one that I hope will be fun for you as well as me.
