The West Lebanon Library
This is a library that I visited right at sunset. It was backlit and there was construction all around so I had to get creative with how I made this photo. The good news about a photo like this is that I always have a second chance to try again. I do love this little library, and I hope that I can visit it again in better conditions.
Another Carnegie Library Week
This week my afternoon theme will be all about Carnegie Libraries again. The story of how these libraries came to be is fascinating. In the early 1900’s Andrew Carnegie funded the building of more than 1,600 libraries in the United States. The towns that wanted one just had to pledge about 10% of the cost to build it, and promise to keep it up. A few of the libraries have been lost over the years. One of my goals when I travel is to document the remaining libraries when I cross paths with them. This week is all about five of those libraries.
