My Favorite Stadium Photos Of 2025
As I write this I am not sure how many best of posts I will make this year. In the past I have really gone all out to start the new year. The past few years though the best of posts have not really been all that popular, and they take a lot of time to put together. That might be why it took until 2026 for my first best of 2025 post to come out. There are a few areas where I wanted to make posts though. Every year one of my favorite posts to put together is my favorite stadium photos post. It really combines everything that I love into one kind of photography.
A Fun Day
This tip off photo from the women’s Big Ten Tournament was part of a fun day for me. I photographed the Big Ten Tournament for the first day to help out. It was a fun day with a lot of good basketball to see. I had made this photo almost exactly in 2016 during the women’s final four in Indy so it was fun to get back down there to make some photos. Hopefully this year I can get back there to photograph Purdue in the tournament.
Peyton
This was a fun photo that I made on my way out of a concert at Lucas Oil. I don’t get to that stadium much anymore so it was neat to get to see this statue up close and personal. This photo is kind of a stretch, but it is part of the stadium so I think that it counts.
Snokeh!
If the last photo was a stretch to make the countdown then this one is as well. On my way down the hill to Mackey early in the year I made some snokeh photos. Ross Ade Stadium is in the background so technically I think that it can be on this list.
Here Comes The Sun
This year I spent a few days in this building at the fairgrounds. I covered the Big Ten Championships as well as the DII championships in the building. I was working for the company putting the event on for the DII events so I needed photos of the facilities. This was one of my favorites.
Back To Wabash
This spring I went down to Wabash to catch a baseball game. The last time that I had photographed a game on this campus was 2013. It was cool to finally get back down there. Goodrich Ballpark has a cool entrance so I made this wide on my way out.
There Goes The Sun
This year I had one of my favorite weeks of the year making photos at the Big Ten softball tournament. I gave myself the challenge to make a different kind of sunset photo every night that I was there. This one might have been my favorite.
Home Run From Above
I was up above making some blue hour photos when Purdue hit a home run against Northwestern. For what I was doing this actually worked out very well. Purdue had photographers there to get tight photos of the emotion. I had a cool scene on the field for my blue hour photo. This was one of my favorite photographs of the tournament.
Rainbow At Bob Friend
For the first time in a while I didn’t photograph a West Side game at Bob Friend this year. I guess technically I photographed two batters of a walk off win, but I don’t think that it really counts. When a rainbow popped up one day I raced to the ball field in our neighborhood to make this photo.
Ross Ade Runouts
This year I didn’t go up top as much as I had in the past at Ross Ade. Here are three of my favorite wide photos of Ross Ade from this past year.
Aurora Over Mackey
This was the first year since they started the t-shirt game that I missed the game. I think that I was the only person that had ever photographed all of them. I made up for that a little bit with this photo of the Northern Lights over the stadium.
Moon Over Mackey
While walking into Mackey one night I saw the full moon rising over the stadium. I pulled my camera out of my bag and made this image. It is a simple one, but I think that is why I like it so much.
Wrestling In Lambert
I basically went to Lambert Fieldhouse to make this photo. This is the historic gym that used to be home to Purdue basketball until the late 60’s. Now this surface is home to the Purdue track and field team. They rarely have home meets now so I will take any opportunity that I can to get in here to make some photos.
Holloway Gymnasium Looking Good
Holloway always looks good dressed up for the NCAA Tournament. This was my 6th time photographing the tournament, and the 5th time in Holloway. It is always a fun time, and I wanted a wide photo to document that. An ace by a kid from a local high school just makes the photo a little better.
Down To Alexander
I made this photo just after the final game of the Big Ten Soccer Tournament at Purdue. I was tired, but the light was too good to pass up. You have the path lit up to Alexander and the sky lit up above the stadium. I am glad that I made this photo because without it I would not have had an Alexander Field photo in the countdown.
More Mackey Snokeh
This countdown started with an early snokeh photo on my way into Mackey, and it will end that way too. I tried my best to ruin my camera gear outside before the game in the snow. It was really coming down making every look amazing out there. This was my favorite photo from that walk around Mackey.
Those were my favorite stadium photos from the past year. This is always one of my favorite posts to put together. It combines my love of sports photography with my love of every other kind of photography as well. Thinking about this post also gets me out to make photos of the stadiums a little wider. Working for the wire they really don’t care about my wide stuff. For the most part it is just for me. Having this post to look forward to gets me up top of the stadium to make something nice for myself.
