Starting The Year Off With Ruby
Yesterday my little one and I went to the Celery Bog to see Ruby the eastern screech owl that hangs out near one of the trails. I like to start my year off at the bog with a photo of Ruby. I started off on the normal trail where I make photos of her. We then moved down to the lower trail to try something out there. Ruby was out just enough to make something a little different. With a long lens and the cropping power that a 50mp camera gives you I could really get in there and make something different that I liked. My next goal at the bog is to go and photograph Ruby’s shy offspring. That is a little different hole that makes for different photos. Walking around the bog yesterday I couldn’t help but think that I need to start getting back out there is for nothing else than the walk.
Ending The Year With Ruby
A couple of days ago I was also at the bog making photos of Ruby. I always like to have my first and last photos of the year out there to be of Ruby. It is a little superstitious thing that I started a few years ago. Ruby never really gave me any looks that night, but I was able to see a lot of behavior. My night ended when Ruby jumped out of her hole to her left. She saw something that she liked and was suddenly gone. I don’t know that I made the strongest photos of her, but it was an awesome experience watching her for a while.
