Trying Out The Pro Mist Filter At Purdue

This past year I had some fun with a cheap pro mist filter to try and give my photos more of a film look. For Christmas I was given a little better filter for my camera. I had intended to use it more for landscape photos, but it is late in the season so I am always looking for something different in the gym. With all of the lights associated with pregame it would have a lot of chances to shine. Here you can see how that glow that it gives works a little bit. I would not use this for every game, but it was fun to play around with during the game.

The Edey Play

The fun thing about this game was that it was a laugher. With that in mind Zach Edey stood at the top of the key and took a three pointer. As it was in the air I knew that the lid would blow off of Mackey if he made it. The shot was not the prettiest, but it went in. It was fun watching the teams reaction to the play. This really is a team with everyone pulling for each other. They all reacted as if they made the three. This was a fun series of photos to make.

Photographing Indiana

I don’t think that it is a big secret that I watched a ton of Indiana basketball as a kid. Calbert Cheaney was my favorite player to watch. It was pretty cool being on the court and seeing him Saturday night. At some point during the game I realized that I never photographed IU before. I have always focused on the game from the Purdue perspective. Part of what I do now is to photograph both teams so I finally photographed Indiana men’s basketball. Of course my biggest highlight of the 2nd half was the Edey 3, but it was still fun to think back to how excited I would have been thirty years ago to have courtside seats to see IU play.

More Photos From The Game

After not being in the stadium for the game last year it was awesome to be back around the big game atmosphere. These are the fun games for photographers to be a part of. I think that the rest of this season will be special as well. We are seeing something really cool that could end in another first for me. Here are a few favorites from a fun night.
