Getting My Morning Steps In On Campus

Last Thursday I had a nice walk on campus as the sun was rising. The mist in the air combined with the blue hour skies made for some interesting photos. This was a spot with the lights illuminating the path where I knew that I wanted to spend a minute and wait for some people to come into the frame. Here the young man looked up to the bell tower and I knew that I had my photo. It is hard to stand in one spot when the light is perfect. My natural instinct is to keep moving and make as many photos as I can. Here though it paid off to wait for some people in the frame.

Photographing People

I do not like my photo made so much. That makes it harder for me to photograph other people. In circumstances like the one above I usually drag my shutter just a little bit so that they are a little blurry. Here I was handholding so I didn’t get too low, but low enough that they are not tack sharp. I like my campus photos with people in them so I have to get better at this.
