A Christmas Story At The Lafayette Civic Theatre

Enjoying A Christmas Story Another Way

One of my favorite Christmas movies is A Christmas Story. I loved it as a kid, and as an adult I might like it even more. As an adult I found the Jean Shepherd book that the movie is based off of. It adds a lot of depth to the characters that you cannot get into in one movie. Last Saturday I was able to see the stage play live at the Lafayette Theatre. It was a fun way to get another look at a classic. As with everything that we have seen this past year this was done so well. There are some talented folks here in the Lafayette area. The movie has such a unique voice that I worried how it would adapt to the stage. Very well as it turns out.

Playing The Hits

I talk about photographic the hits at times. There are certain things that people expect to see from certain places. With this play there were definitely things that I was looking forward to seeing. With limited space I wondered how they would do all of them. They did all of them with no problem. Of course the highlight was Flick getting his tongue stuck to the flag pole. That happened right in front of me, and it like everything else was done very well. We will have our dancing shoes on in a couple of months to see them put on Footloose.
