Catching Up With Ruby

A Quick Trip To The Celery Bog

Last week I was up on campus making some photos, and I knew that I would have a few minutes after I was done to make some photos. I went out to the bog to see what was going on out there. It was the middle of the day so I had low expectations of what I would see. When I pulled into the lot I saw a photographer set up near Ruby’s hole. She normally doesn’t hang out during the day, but I wasn’t going to argue. I made a couple of photos of her and then moved on. It was cool to see her again.

Waiting For A Photo

As I was walking I found the perfect fall branch. All that I needed was a bird to land on it. It was in a good spot for me, and for the birds to land on. Of course after waiting a while it never happened, but it gave me something to hope for in the future. I have not been going to the bog lately because it started to feel more like work than fun. I loved going out there because it was relaxing. To make good bird photos though you have to put in the hours. I got really burned out, and I decided to wait until I am inspired to go back out. Making some nice warbler photos is a good way to light that spark again. Below are a couple of photos that I made on my walk including a squirrel photo that I made on the way out nearly in the dark at 16,000 ISO.
