Getting A Great Chance With The Pileated Woodpecker

A few weeks ago while watching the great horned owls at the Celery Bog we saw this pileated woodpecker flying around in the woods. It was busy hunting for food so it didn’t mind us making photos of it. This is one of those birds that I have just never been able to get very close to most of the time. The few times that I have had a close encounter have been very cool.

Just Get Out There

This spring I have not gotten out as much as usual to make bird photos. I usually use bird photography to practice my skills, but so far this spring we have been swamped. Photos like the one above though are proof that you just need to go out to see something cool.
