Finding An Owl In The Country
On New Year’s Day I was out driving around making photos of barns in the fog when I decided to turn down a road that led to a very familiar place. On this stretch of road is where within a couple of days in 2017 I saw my first snowy owl and my first short-eared owls. Imagine my surprise when one of the dirt clods in the field moved a little as I was driving. I saw a short-eared owl hanging out on the opposite side of the road than I thought it would be on. I didn’t make any good photos on the first, but I knew that I would be back. Yesterday I was out doing the same thing. I was looking for nice barns in the fog. I decided to stop by my owl spot again. As I was coming down the road one of the fence posts was a little taller than the others. The shorty was up there and didn’t seem to mind me making photos of it. I explained what I was doing so maybe that was it.
A Great Stretch Of Road
As I said above I have had some great luck on this road over the years. On a foggy day I got all that I could hope for. What a great way to start off the new year. Over the last couple of days I have made some photos that I can’t wait to share with you. The days have been foggy, but I decided to just go with it and make photos showing off the fog. A fairly close owl encounter is a great way to get the year going though. I think that for now I will leave the owl alone though and check in on it during the next sunny afternoon.
fantastic pics: the owl is a special animal
