Purdue And Illinois Play A Little Rain Baseball
Saturday afternoon I was back at Alexander Field watching two teams play in the rain. The rain never really got too heavy. It started to trend that way before going back to a light sprinkle. I happen to like the way that rain looks in sports photos so I was not too upset. I had rain gear for my camera (not myself) so it was all good.
A Scary Moment
I was making photos of Illinois hitter Branden Comia from my first base position when something crazy happened. The ball glanced off of his shoulder and hit him in the helmet. Right away you knew it did by the sound, but he acted like nothing happened. After a quick check he was on first base ready to go. The funny thing is that my memory is bad here, but I am pretty sure that he stole second and then ended up scoring. I could be wrong about that though.
More With The Outfield Wall
On Saturday I spent more time with the new outfield wall as my backdrop. I tried to pick locations that might result in a play for me. I had a couple of reasons for this. The first is that the wall is brand new, and looks great in the background. The second reason was that the rain is much more visible with the dark background of the wall than with the light background of the sky.
More Photos From The Game
You can see my full gallery from the game here. It was good being back at Alexander again this weekend. Even in the rain it is always fun to make photos there.
