A Dark-eyed Junco At The Celery Bog

The Bird Of Winter At The Celery Bog

No bird makes me think of winter more than the dark-eyed junco. When it shows up in my yard I know that the snow will show up soon as well. On this day though I was ignoring most of them, but this one was just posing way too nicely for me. I was focused on the goldfinch group that was in this patch, but this junco decided to join in as well. I have talked about taking what is given to you out in the field, and this is a good example of that.

Thinking Of Simpler Times

The last couple of days have been interesting to say the least. I don’t know that we have been in this place as a nation for quite some time. I think that it is good to know what is going on, but this morning I was getting way too into what was happening. Sometimes it is good to take a step back and think of better times. This quite few moments at the bog was one of those times.

  1. Love these birds and this guy looks like he’s all puffed up to keep warm. As for what’s happening in the nation, I’m anti all rioting and destruction, regardless of the side or cause. Just stop it! Makes me ashamed of people in general.
