The Little Flower Girl

A Proud Dad

This past weekend my daughter was the flower girl in a wedding for the second time this year. She was fantastic, and she kept her poise much better than her dad probably would have. She did her job wonderfully, and made me very proud. I couldn’t help but think that the time would come when she would be going down the aisle in a completely different manor. The fact that it was her cousins wedding made that thought hit home much more. She will probably be just as calm then, but her dad will be a wreck. That time is still far away though. For now this little girl will have to just settle for trying to steal the show at weddings.

Making The Best With What You Have

I didn’t want to over think this wedding. I was not shooting it. They had three photographers who really seemed to know their stuff doing that. With that in mind I just had my Canon G16 with me. It does the job just fine, and I could stow it in my suit pocket the rest of the night. Of course there were times when I wanted something more than a point and shoot, but for most of the night I enjoyed not being weighed down with my dSLR. Next weekend when the pressure is on me though you can bet that I will have a couple of Canon dSLR’s around my neck.

The Bride and Groom

The bride is my niece Brookley. By the time that I first met her she was graduating college after a successful soccer career at Purdue. Over the course of the last few years I have come to see her as a person who will be successful in whatever she does. She is just that kind of person. Her husband Chris was one of my favorite football players at Purdue to watch. He was a guy that I always wanted to photograph on the field (it was the hair). I never got that opportunity. The reasons that I liked to watch Chris play the game are the same reasons that I think will help him be a great husband. He will work hard and do what needs to be done. Last week had a lot of Purdue beats to it. It just seemed like Purdue was everywhere that I looked. This was a fun way to end that week.

The Week In Photos

Last week was a slow week for my photography, but a fun one with my family. This is not the large edition of the week in photos, but it is a fun one. You can see my favorite photos from last week here. This coming weekend I have a wedding to photograph myself so it will be a busy week for me. Weddings are very pressure packed for me, but I love capturing those moments. I can’t wait to see what the week will bring.
