The Paul Konerko Statue at U.S. Cellular Field

The Paul Konerko statue at U.S. Cellular Field

Seeing the Statue of Paulie For the First Time

If you have read this blog for very long then you know that I enjoyed watching Paul Konerko play baseball for the Chicago White Sox. He played the game the way that it should be played, and he was very good at it. Paulie was my age, and was part of the first group of players that I could relate to from an age standpoint. Paulie was a huge factor in the White Sox winning the 2005 World Series. This statue freezes one of his World Series moments in time. Here you can come and see Paulie celebrate his grand slam in the World Series just above the seat that the ball hit. This is a very cool tribute to a great White Sox player. He was already partially bronzed with the World Series tribute outside of the stadium, but now he takes his place with some of the other White Sox greats in the outfield. You can take a walk out there to see Charles, Harold, Luis, Nellie, Billy, Carlton, Frank, Minnie, and now Paulie.
