A Rare Visitor
Early on this winter the European Starling made a few visits to my backyard. It was a bird that I had not seen before, and have not seen since. It came to eat the fruits of our backyard tree, and then left. You can see the bird about ready to get another berry here. It was a beautiful bird that I was happy to see. The colors really pop when the sun hits the bird. I never imagined myself watching and photographing birds. It is not easy though to get a good shot, and it really is great practice with my equipment. In the winter when I am not shooting at 400mm or 600mm it keeps me sharp. It may just be my imagination, but I think that my sports photography has improved since I started this. No matter what it has helped get rid of some of the boredom of winter.
