Starting a Blog For the Right Reasons
Three years ago today I started a photo blog to help myself grow as a photographer. I had just bought a new camera, and with it came the realization that I really did not know how to use the thing. With that in mind I started a photo 365 project that I actually saw all the way through. There were times when I did not think that it would be possible, but I did it. The first of those 365 days was October 7th, 2011, which was also the first day of this blog. You can read that post here.
Danny Anthrop and the Blog
One great thing about the blog that first day is that the photo was of future Boilermaker Danny Anthrop. I was new to the area in 2011 so all I knew about him was that he had a brother on the basketball team. Little did I know about the role that he would play in the growth of this site. One of my most popular early photos was of his grandparents barn just down the road from where I used to work. I passed it one day leaving on a trip, and I knew that I had to go back to photograph the barn. It looked great with the blue sign up against the red barn. Little did I know who the Danny was that was mentioned on the sign. You can see that blog post here. When this site had its first anniversary and the 365 project came to an end I figured that I would use a photo of Danny to bookend the project. By that time he was a freshman on the Purdue football team, and I did not have field access. I made the best picture that I could from my seat. You can read that post here. I thought that it would only be fitting to put up a photo of Danny Anthrop today.
How Long Can You Post a Photo Everyday?
Lately I have been thinking about the future of this blog. It has already served its initial purpose, and to an extent a secondary purpose. I have tried to post quality content everyday, but that can be hard 365 days a year. At some point I will have to at least scale back a bit. I enjoy making the photos as well as writing the posts, but when it starts to become a chore I will have to rethink the future of the blog. For now though we move forward. Everyday is one step closer to the 4th anniversary of this site.

Congratulations to you
Thank you
