Through This Door

Photo of the Day

While in Chicago I spent some time focusing on details. I walked by this door many times during our trip, but it wasn’t until the final day that I decided to photograph it. This is not an easy shot because of all of the lines.A tilt shift lens would be great, but who has one of those? I decide to frame this based on the lens that I had. In the end I really liked the photo that I made.

Technical Data

For this photo I wanted to show the grit of downtown. We can all pretend that it is not there, but everything in a big city seems to just be a little gritty. I started off with Matt Kloskowski’s strong HDR in Lightroom preset. This is a wonderful set of presets that you can download for free from his blog. I then added some black to the photo as well as some vibrance. This was an easy edit. The amazing thing is that I did not crop or straighten this photo.
