Photo of the Day
Before the 1990’s that had some good White Sox teams all the fans had was the 1983 White Sox team. They were the first club since the 1959 World Series club to go to the playoffs. Today marks the 30th anniversary of Lamarr Hoyt guiding the White Sox to a 2-1 victory in Game 1 of the best of 5 ALCS. Only two more wins were needed to reach the World Series. It was not meant to be though as the Orioles won the next three including a great game 4 that saw Britt Burns pitch 9 1/3 innings only allowing a home run that chased him from the game. The Orioles went on to win the World Series, and the White Sox would have to wait until 2005 to claim the title. I saw this banner from old Memorial Stadium in an Ocean City, Maryland bar a year ago. I made this picture because of the heartbreak of that season.
Technical Data
I performed a crop to this image to get rid of some of the bar traffic. I also adjusted some of the sliders in Lightroom to give it a more natural look. Making a picture using the natural light of a bar is not easy so I needed a white balance adjustment as well.
