Photo of the Day
Yesterday I had an amazing time at the White Sox game. The sole purpose was to go and see the team play in their throwback uniforms from 1983. That was the year that I really started watching the White Sox. By 1985 I was a huge fan, and my father took me to my first game. Yesterday was the 28th anniversary of that date. Seeing the players in the retro uniforms was a real thrill for me. It took me back to my childhood when the players were these larger than life figures. For the first part of my baseball fandom I would collect baseball cards to help ease the times when the games were not going on. Of course these were the uniforms the White Sox had on in those cards. My first real taste of photography was looking at the images that Topps, Fleer, or Donruss decided to place on their cards. It was awesome to be able to photograph the Sox in those uniforms. I really think that they look great, and a season or two played in them would be nice. I would bet that they won’t do that though as the black uniforms really took off sales wise.
I was taking pictures as a fan more than game action yesterday, but there were a couple of times that I tried to capture a moment. Once was at first base in the first inning after Alejandro De Aza drew a walk. I wanted a picture of him diving back into the bag. I was rewarded with a couple of them. I also focused on second base a couple of times hoping for a nice take out slide at second base. The great take out never happened, but the slide above helped make an interesting picture. Some other pictures from the day can be found on my Facebook page here.
Technical Data
The best part about sports photography is the fact that you don’t do much to the photos in post. An editorial image can only have a couple minor adjustments to it. A couple of minor adjustments in Lightroom, and this photo was ready to go.
Extra Reading
Today one of my friends Leanne Cole has written a feature on me here. Leanne and I have been on a similar journey over the last couple of years. We have drifted apart as far as style is concerned, but her work is amazing. I just don’t have the imagination to pull it off. Head on over and check out her site today. I would also like to welcome all of the new followers that joined the site overnight. I hope you enjoy looking at the images as much as I enjoy making them.

Great capture and ahhhh my next lens! π
Thank you. I have had the lens less than a year, and it is amazing. You won’t regret it.
