Sports Photo of the Day
Scott Podsednik was a key part to the quick start that the 2005 White Sox team got off to. He really was fun to watch during the early part of that season. You knew he was going to steal the base. The White Sox knew that he was going to steal the base. Most importantly the other team knew that he was going to steal the base. Everyone knew it, but nobody could stop him. An leg injury slowed him down towards the end of the season, and when you make your living with your legs that is not good. He was a huge part of the championship team though, and Sox fans will always remember him for that. Scotty Pods came back to the White Sox in 2009. This was a different player at this point. He took his turns at the bat with a walk up style only seen in beer league softball. He was still exciting to watch as you can see in the picture above. He could still get a jump allowing him to steal a base this easy. Once again though the lower body failed him, and he was not retained at the end of the season. He has since jumped around quite a bit, but he is still playing in the bigs, and that is all that you can ask for.
Technical Data
Since this is an old image, and more importantly not a RAW file I had to be careful. I applied the light sports preset for Lightroom that I downloaded for free from Matt Kloskowski. That really seemed to help the photo quite a bit. I liked the original, but the sharpening in the preset really is to my liking. From there it is easy. I just tweaked the sliders to get it to where I wanted it. Then a quick export so that I can post the photo here.
