Photo of the Day
I took this picture back in October during the Boo Zoo event at the Indianapolis Zoo. I really like how the zebras look with a clean background like this. I took some pictures trying to force it from the opposite direction, but a little patience allowed me to get this shot. I actually took a couple of good shots from this location, one of them being a personal one that means a lot to me. These are beautiful creatures, and a zoo allows someone like me to get up close to an animal that I would not normally have a chance to see this close.
Technical Data
Here is a lesson that I learned here. White balance can make or break a picture. I always liked this shot, but something just looked off. With the white balance set to daylight the white on the horse was a dirty yellow. In my mind that didn’t compute so I would always pass over this photo. I adjusted the white balance in Lightroom by adjusting the slider while watching the stripes to dial it in. Other than that only a couple of minor slider adjustments were done to this photo. The light was perfect, and the picture was the better for that.
