iPhone Friday: Scenes From St. Louis

Phone Photo

Here is another photo for iPhone Friday that was not taken with an iPhone. In 2009 I made the trip to St. Louis for my birthday. The trip was meant to allow me to take in a Cardinals game as well as see the famous arch. I like this picture because it has much of what makes St. Louis interesting in one shot. You have Keiner Fountain in the foreground with the old courthouse and the St. Louis Arch in the background. As I was walking around I saw this shot, and knew that I had to take it. At the time I thought that my phone could take just as good of a picture as my camera. I have since realized that I was wrong. I would love to go back and take this picture with my new equipment to see if I could get a better shot. Of course I would love some clouds in the background this time. The sculpture in the fountain is called “The Runner”. Without the fountain I think that this would be an interesting picture, but not as much. The Old St. Louis Courthouse is a city landmark. It is perhaps most famous for being the courthouse where the Dredd Scott case was decided. Of course I don’t think that I have to explain the St. Louis Arch. It’s iconic shape immediately lets you know where you are.

Technical Data

This was an easy shot to edit. I simply straightened the picture a bit in Lightroom. That is it. I really liked how this looked, but thought it was a bit crooked. That was the extent of my editing here. This was a very nice quick and easy job.
