Photo of the Day
I took this picture with my new Canon 60D on the first night out with it in September of 2011. I only had a short time to get used to the thing because I was going to shoot a wedding with it that weekend. Of course I picked my favorite spot to shoot which is the windmills just north of Lafayette. I was shooting a beautiful sunset when I looked behind me. The sky was awesome this way as well so I walked a few steps further down the road I was on to shoot down this gravel road. It was a keeper right away, and was the background on my phone until just a couple of weeks ago. I just like the colors combined with the open road. It is about time that I shared this on here.
Technical Data
Of course when I first picked up my camera I really didn’t know what RAW mode was other than it was something that took up a lot more space on my memory cards. For both this shot and the wedding I wish that I had shot in RAW so that I could have a little more fun in post. As it is I used Matt Kloskowski’s Big Sky (super strong) preset here to edit this shot in Lightroom. After that I tweaked some of the sliders to get the shot somewhere close to what I saw that night. In all I am very happy with this shot.
