Photo of the Day
Today I went for a short drive to see what some of the smaller towns around here were doing for Christmas. The town of Frankfurt not too far from Lafayette really goes all out for the holiday. They were setting up decorations in the town square as I was walking around, and I thought then that they were doing very well. On my way out of town I took a wrong turn, and I found a great Christmas site. They have a drive through display that is very cool. It is not a laser show by any means. It is a very nice way to celebrate the holidays though. The sky was just cloudy enough to allow the lights to show up in the afternoon. This makes me want to go back to the site at night to see what they look like then. I guess I mean that I want to get there at dusk to shoot them then.
This is a three shot HDR image that was processed in Photomatix. I took the -2, 0, and +2 images into the program to take the best pixels from each. It has been a while since I have created an HDR image. I really knew that this scene was one that might need to be processed as an HDR shot. I let Photomatix combine the images for me, then I took the shot back into Lightroom to edit it there. The sliders in Lightroom are much better as far as I am concerned so I have been using that almost exclusively for HDR lately. I also get a much more realistic image that way. I think the shot could have been better later in the day, but I still like the image anyway.
