Photo of the Day
For some reason I had forgotten about a couple of Christmas related photos that I had in my possession. Yesterday I had the picture of Graceland all decked out for the holidays, and today I have this picture from inside of Jimmy Carter’s boyhood home. I went down to Florida to see Purdue play in a bowl in 2006. On the way I tried to find some historical sites to see that were on my route. I had just read the book ‘An Hour Before Daylight’ so the Carter home was on the list. I like this simple scene with the simple presents under the tree. I am one who goes crazy at Christmas time so seeing the few presents under the tree is weird to me. At the time Carter would have been living here though this would have been a big Christmas I would guess.
One big thing with this picture was the ultra bright window that was in the frame. My first step in processing was to crop that window out. I then used a sports preset by Matt Kloskowski to get close to where I needed to be. I really like the dark look that those give me. Since this was not a RAW file I really had to be careful not to go too far. I think that this was close to the limit here.
