At The Heart of Notre Dame

Photo of the Day

I took this picture this past fall on gameday as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish were getting ready to play the Purdue Boilermakers. Part of the Notre Dame gameday experience for me is always a tour of the campus, and this beautiful church is always on the list. This was my first time in here with my new camera so I was very excited to try some things out. I really wanted to capture the beauty in here, and I think that I did a decent job of that. The true wonder of the church must be seen with the eyes though.

Technical Data

This is a three shot HDR image that uses the -2, 0, and +exposures. I sent the three shots into Photomatix to process. Once the 32 bit file came up to look at I saved it, and opened it back up inside of Lightroom to use the powerful sliders there. I have gotten very comfortable with the Lightroom sliders, and I think that it has started to show a bit. I could have really spent a lot of time on this shot to frankenstein the picture to make everything look perfect, but I am happy with what I was able to get here. I just don’t think that every shot should be a three hour edit.
