Abe Watches Over Us

Photo of the Day

Today I have the day off, and I plan on spending part of that in the theater watching the new Steven Spielburg movie ‘Lincoln.’ I have been looking forward to it for a while so today will be well worth it. I took this picture at the Art Museum in Chicago this past March. I had an idea for the photo that never really panned out because of the low light in the room. Without a tripod sometimes shots like this can be tricky. I have faster lenses now that would do alright inside the museum. For some reason I thought that my wide angle lens was the perfect one to take inside. I had to give up my bag quickly so I just took what was on it at the time. I now know better.

Technical Data

As I said before, I took this picture this past March while walking through the Art Museum in Chicago. I have yet to photograph the larger work in Washington D.C. so for now this will have to do. I wanted to do something interesting here. I had a nice clean black and white image by just using Lightroom to edit it. I wanted more though so I opened the image up in On One Software’s Perfect Black and White 1. I wanted to try and imitate an older photographic style. I have scene many of the images that Matthew Brady took so that was a bit of my inspiration here. I used the dirty daguerreotype preset, and I really liked it. The clean version was good, but this gave it that something extra that I really was going for. I thought that this would be a perfect picture to post this morning.
