Just before Halloween we were at the Indianapolis Zoo for their Zoo Boo event. Most of my pictures centered around the little one getting candy and having fun, but I did turn my lens to the animals a bit as well. I really enjoyed making pictures of the lions. The fence was a little far away, but my new 70-200mm lens could shoot right through it making it appear as if I was in much more danger than I actually was. I really enjoy making pictures at the zoo because you get to see animals that you would never see around here. This might be as close to an African safari as I will ever get.

Technical Data

I actually had tried a few things here to get this shot the way that I saw it in person. The one thing about shooting RAW is that all the files come out flat forcing you to edit every one. There really aren’t any straight out of the camera shots anymore. Everything must be edited some. That might be why I am using presets a bit more. Now that I am getting to know them more and more it is easier to pick them quicker making my whole workflow a bit easier. Once again I used one of the sports presets that Matt Kloskowski has made. They really are great for a wide variety of shots including apparently shots from the zoo.
