Don’t Let the Train Pass You By

Photo of the Day

In late August we went to Chicago to celebrate my birthday. Part of that fun was going to two ball games in one day. The trip started here at the Clark/Division stop of the Chicago EL. Something about this scene really spoke to me, and I wanted to get a picture of it. I had the idea of waiting until a train came to shoot it. I was hoping that the train came before ours on the other side of the tracks. It did, but I did not really have the time to get ready as I was still getting my camera out. I got the shot though, and it turned out much like I thought that it might.

Technical Data

This shot was supposed to be part of a three stop HDR, but in the end I just used the metered exposure because I liked that the best. The main thing that was done here was to use one of Trey’s Lightroom Presets to get the image close to what I wanted. I used one called HDR in Lightroom A Good Start. I then made some minor adjustments to get the shot just right for me. I really liked the idea of the shot, and the preset helped me get the post processing done much quicker than I would have on my own I think. As I get to know what each of these does it will help me spend my time a little wiser from here on out.
