Day 367 Bonus: The Perfect Bookend

Last Photo of the Day

When this project started a year ago I had no idea what I was getting into. I just had this crazy idea, and happened to be somewhere to take a shot. That somewhere was a high school football game. I captured the star player Danny Anthrop coming back to my side of the field on a punt return. He had a great run, and from this point on it was smooth sailing for the touchdown. That first picture of the day can be found here. Looking back I think the picture is way too dark, but that is what this project was about. I took the picture a day to get better. At the end of November we were driving down a country road when I spotted a cool barn with a banner on it saying good luck at state. I thought it would make a great picture so the next day it became day #56 of this project. I found out that it was the Anthrop barn. So knowing that now and having Danny as my first picture of the project, and the barn being one of my favorite shots from the project I thought that he should be the final picture of the project.

That sounds easier than it was. Danny is now a freshman at Purdue, and although he sees the field a lot I couldn’t spend much time at the game yesterday. I pretty much had to get a somewhat interesting shot of Anthrop on the sideline. I luckily had a great seat to view the sideline, but getting one of him facing the camera was difficult. I did capture this image though, and it will be the last of this project. It has been fun, and I learned a lot for sure.

Technical Data

I used one of Matt Kloskowski’s sports to edit this shot. I really had a few derby pictures to edit so I didn’t want to spend too much time editing the shots from the football game. I did take a horizontal shot and crop it as a portrait. Other than that I really did not do much to this, although the preset did change a few sliders.

Kelby Worldwide Photowalk

Here is that part of the post where I talk about the photowalk that I am leading on campus after the Wisconsin game in October. The date is October 13th to be exact, and the walk will start at 4 o’clock est at the Neil Armstrong Statue in front of the Armstrong Hall of Engineering. Over  1,100 photowalks are planned around the world. If you are not near West Lafayette then you kind find a walk near you on the Kelby site. Sign up now to be part of this event. Over 22,000 walkers have already signed up so far. You don’t have to be a pro (I am far from it) to attend. Any kind of camera is welcome as well. Here are a few links to the various sites which promote the event. If you want to sign up you should do so on the Kelby site in order to be eligible for the prizes though.
