Photo of the Day
Last week I bought this bottle of cola for two reasons. The first was that I loved the old bottle. The second was that I knew that I might need a shot some night, and this retro style bottle could make for an interesting one. I have been wanting to try a retro preset for a while so this was a good opportunity to do so. In the end I liked how the bottle looked, but I liked how the windows in the background looked in bokeh.
As I said before I wanted to try something new here. I bought the Lightroom presets that Trey Ratcliff released a while ago, but I have really not used them. I usually edit on my own, or I have liked the presets that Matt Kloskowski has released a bit better. I picked a Trey Ratcliff preset called An Infared Morning for this shot. I loved how it made the bottle look, and even though I liked another one as well this one was far and above the best. Since I bought the 70-200mm f/2.8 lens I have not used my 50mm f/1.8 at all. Today thought I decided to dust it off, and give it a shot. I like the look, and it really makes the shot when nothing else is in focus.
Kelby Worldwide Photowalk
Here is that part of the post where I talk about the photowalk that I am leading on campus after the Wisconsin game in October. The date is October 13th to be exact, and the walk will start at 4 o’clock est at the Neil Armstrong Statue in front of the Armstrong Hall of Engineering. Over 1,100 photowalks are planned around the world. If you are not near West Lafayette then you kind find a walk near you on the Kelby site. Sign up now to be part of this event. Nearly 21,000 walkers have already signed up so far. Activity has picked up a bit on the Purdue sites even with the short time being posted. You don’t have to be a pro (I am far from it) to attend. Any kind of camera is welcome as well. Here are a few links to the various sites which promote the event. If you want to sign up you should do so on the Kelby site in order to be eligible for the prizes though.
I have finally joined the world of Tumblr. I think that it really might be another good place to show off some extra pictures of mine. For some reason Facebook seems to take the quality down when I upload there. No matter what I do in post, the pictures seem to have too much noise. From now on I may post the pictures onto Tumblr, and then link to them onto my Facebook page. I still have some research to do on the site, but it looks pretty cool so far. I don’t have a lot on there yet, but you can find my page here. I also posted a link on the bottom left in the blogroll to the site. It may look better as time goes on.
