Photo of the Day
Today I really did not shoot too much. After work I knew that I needed a picture, but I was not sure where to go. I ended up near the Davis Ferry Bridge by accident. The road I wanted to take was closed so I had to go the opposite way. I did not want to shot the Davis Ferry Bridge again so I took an old dirt path to see where it took me. I knew that it would get me close to an bridge with a live set of tracks on it. I liked the shot here, but something was missing. I waited a while for a train, but I never did see one. I think that seeing a train at just the right moment would have turned this into a very interesting picture. That will have to be another day though. I did enjoy the adventure of getting here.
Technical Data
When I uploaded the RAW file into Lightroom it was very flat. The RAW files usually are though. I maxed out the highlights, added a touch of shadow recovery, and also added the normal amount of clarity. I also added a little vibrance to bring the colors back to where they were. I did not crop this as I took a couple different shots on the scene with the composition in mind. I usually do that, but I really like how this one turned out. I purposely put the bridge up a bit in the shot so that more of the reflection in the water would be visible.
Kelby Worldwide Photowalk
Here is that part of the post where I talk about the photowalk that I am leading on campus after the Wisconsin game in October. The date is October 13th to be exact, and the walk will start at 4 o’clock est at the Neil Armstrong Statue in front of the Armstrong Hall of Engineering. Over 1,100 photowalks are planned around the world. If you are not near West Lafayette then you kind find a walk near you on the Kelby site. Sign up now to be part of this event. Nearly 21,000 walkers have already signed up so far. Activity has picked up a bit on the Purdue sites even with the short time being posted. You don’t have to be a pro (I am far from it) to attend. Any kind of camera is welcome as well. Here are a few links to the various sites which promote the event. If you want to sign up you should do so on the Kelby site in order to be eligible for the prizes though.
