Photo of the Day
Today I was at the Notre Dame and Purdue game in South Bend. I of course took many pictures over the course of the day. The pictures of the game action will take a while to go through. I don’t know how good they will look since we were in row 46 anyway. That row was perfect to get this tribute that the Notre Dame marching band did for Neil Armstrong during their halftime show. I thought that the clouds added a lot of interest to the photo, and it was a perfect way to put a cap on a good day. The ballgame was very good as well. The fourth quarter saw a lot of drama with the Irish pulling it out with a late field goal. Two benched quarterbacks led their teams to late scores adding to the drama. It was a great game no matter who you were rooting for. I think that both teams will build from today although a win by Purdue would have been huge.
Technical Data
This was shot with my Tamron wide angle lens. I knew that I wanted the wide look for the clouds, and it really added to the stadium as well. I brought the shot into Lightroom to add some clarity as well as lighten the shadows and increase the highlights. In the end I like the final result.
Other Pictures From the Game
You can find some pictures from the actual game on my seldom updated sports blog here. I really wasn’t in position to get good action shots, but that didn’t stop me from trying.
Kelby Worldwide Photowalk
Here is that part of the post where I talk about the photowalk that I am leading on campus after the Wisconsin game in October. The date is October 13th to be exact, and the walk will start at 4 o’clock est at the Neil Armstrong Statue in front of the Armstrong Hall of Engineering. Nearly 1,000 photowalks are planned around the world. If you are not near West Lafayette then you kind find a walk near you on the Kelby site. Sign up now to be part of this event. Nearly 15,000 walkers have already signed up so far. Activity has picked up a bit on the Purdue sites even with the short time being posted. You don’t have to be a pro (I am far from it) to attend. Any kind of camera is welcome as well. Here are a few links to the various sites which promote the event. If you want to sign up you should do so on the Kelby site in order to be eligible for the prizes though.
