Day 326: The Golden Bean

Photo of the Day

Throughout our weekend stay in Chicago we stayed at the Hotel Indigo. It was a very nice boutique hotel that really exceeded my expectations. This morning before leaving town we ate at The Golden Bean which is the little restaurant on the first floor. I did not take my camera, but wanted to get a picture before we left. As we were checking out I shot back through the restaurant to get this picture. The hotel is kind of over the top with their decoration, but that is what made it interesting to me. I would love to stay here again. It is only a couple of miles from both the lake and rush street. I only took a few pictures this morning, and this was meant more for memory than public consumption. When I processed it though I knew that it was the photo of the day.

Technical Data

This is a three shot HDR that was merged in Photomatix Pro. From there I took the 32 bit file back into Lightroom to get right. I really like the controls in Photomatix, but I feel that I get more realistic results in Lightroom. I have really come to like this technique, and although it doesn’t work in every situation it seems to work in most.
