Photo of the Day
I think that I have mentioned that I am headed to Chicago this weekend. Actually I will be leaving fairly soon. I don’t know if I can get a post up from Chicago tonight so I decided to post this shot that I took in Lafayette today. I was stuck at a stop sign while driving back to West Lafayette when I noticed this old mailbox. I thought that it would make a good picture so I grabbed my camera (which was conveniently ready on the seat next to me), and took the shot. On a day when I wouldn’t get much shooting around here I was able to get something fairly interesting.
This was shot once again with the new 70-200mm 2.8 lens. I say new, but I am really renting the thing. I did get the 1.4x teleconverter for it though allowing me to get just over 400mm with my crop frame sensor. I think that this will help me this weekend when I am shooting at the baseball games. I really wanted to try something different here so I decided to try a preset in Lightroom to process the picture. I chose the Stilting in the Sky preset that was part of the package that I got from Stuck in Customs. I thought that it gave this picture a different look. I then added a slight black vignette around the edges that kind of draws you in. It is not my best picture, but in case I don’t get another today the project is still going.
