I have admired this little barn for years now. It is right off of Soldiers Home Road, and I have been looking at it since I went to school here in West Lafayette. Since that time though they put up a billboard right in front of the barn that takes away a lot of the angles that you could get. This is the picture of the day for today because it is the only picture that I took with my dSLR. Of course I took three and merged them to HDR, but that is a different story. I am not overly happy with this shot. I know I say that a lot, but ever since I finished the Trey Ratcliff 11 HDR course I have what I think is a better eye. I don’t like all of my work, but when you shoot a picture a day they can’t all be gallery shots. I de-saturated this shot a little, and it is one that I can live with now. Maybe later I can shoot this one again and do it right. Something is missing from it.
I really thought that this was a great candidate for a black and white shot, but my plugin keeps crashing. I downloaded the Nik Software Silver Effects Pro trial from their site to try it out. During the HDR tutorial by Trey Ratcliff he used it with great success. I wanted to try it out, and it worked for one shot. Ever since then it will not boot up. It could be a great program, but if it won’t run as a trial I will have a hard time forking over the money to buy the full product.
What character this barn has!
