Day 244 Bonus: The Transit of Venus

Earlier today I posted about how I could not get a good shot of the transit of Venus with the equipment that I have. I actually tried a couple of ways to make a makeshift pinhole to view it but it didn’t work. As the sun was partially obscured by clouds I thought that I would just give it a shot shooting it. I used an old baseball technique of catching a ball in the sun to get this shot. That meant that I could not look at it, but I could be in the ballpark of where it was. With the sun partially covered it allowed me to get this shot of Venus moving across the upper right hand corner of the sun. Since this will not happen again for over 100 years I was glad to get something. This may not be the most technically accurate picture, but it was the best that I could do. I actually like the dreaminess of it all. The very short exposure coupled with the bright sun made of a surreal scene. I think that this is a great way to end day 244 and now I can start the final 1/3 of this project.
