Day 80 Bonus: A Somber Bridge

I have really had fun with the last couple of days. What better Christmas present than time off so that I can take pictures? I took a small trip for about an hour this morning, and thought that I was done taking pictures for the day. Then I took some at a party I was at. Those pictures of my Uncle’s house can be found on my Flickr and Facebook pages. Links to both of those can be found at the bottom left of this page. I have this picture on both of those as well, but after thinking about it I realized that I wanted it on this site.

Over ten years ago a childhood friend passed very unexpectedly. When I moved in the mid 80’s my friend Rob was the first one to help me get into the cliques of my new neighborhood. It doesn’t sound like much, but he really meant a lot to me and how I was received by the other kids. Rob’s father owned the ground where this bridge was placed, and for some reason it was put up without me knowing about it. I only saw the sign this past summer when I thought that the bridge would be a good photo op. Now that I know that the bridge was put up for Robbie I knew that I wanted an HDR picture of it. I had limited time and of course no tripod, but I gave it a shot. After basically missing the sunset I think that I ended up with a pretty good picture. I will have to try this again when I can be there for the sunset with my camera set up.
