The Week That Was In Sports

I made sports photos this week! It has been an interesting couple of weeks for sports. I edited a ton of sports photos last week, but they were for other people. It was a great learning experience though. When you are editing for someone else straight out of camera you really learn a lot about them. You see everything. It was really interesting to see the Big Ten Tournament just by photos coming in to me. When it was over I had a chance to see a couple of innings of softball so why not get out there?

Softball Season!

This was a fun week for softball. I finally was able to see some in person. The local high school team that I cover also started their season with the first official practices. Before long I will have more softball coming my way than I know what to do with. For this game I had very limited time so I just decided to work on the basics. It has been too long since I have seen bat and ball sports so I worked on timing a little.

Playing With The Light

I am not always photographing softball in the best light. For this first game I wanted to have the light at my back. It is the easiest way to go, but it made for some fun photos.

Shadow Play

This was kind of fun to do. I was not at this game for anything so when I saw the bunt coming I decided to try and isolate the shadow. It was something different, and a fun way to change up the gallery.

Below are a few bonus photos from this past week. As we get deeper into softball season I will have many games to keep up with. This section will probably be where most of those photos live. Every game has a cool story though so I can’t wait to see what those will be for this season.
