The Former Monon Depot

This previously theme is a fun one to just keep going with. There are so many iconic buildings that now house something else. This one is the old depot on 5th street. There is so much history here in this photo. This building was put up in 1902. It was a depot for years. One of the cool train trips that left here was the Monon football special. That train took fans down to Bloomington to see the Old Oaken bucket game. If you look back through old photos you will see that it was at this depot that the IU team got off the train that brought them up here. This is a pretty cool old building that we are lucky to still have.

The Monon Depot Today

The bulling now houses the Civic Theater of Greater Lafayette. Over the years we have seen many wonderful shows here. My little one has taken a few classes here. Her first time singing on stage was at this theater. It might be my curse, but I think of all of the people that have been through this building for so many years every time that I enter it.
