The Week That Was In Sports

This was a lighter week as far as sports photography goes. I had games Saturday and Sunday and that was it. After a few busy weeks this was a good week to make some different kinds of photos. We are about to get to Big Ten season in basketball so a light week now will pay off later.

Purdue Takes Care Of Business Against Marquette

This is a game that Purdue should have won big, and they did just that. As is the case nearly every game now it seems like Braden Smith sets another mark in history. He really is a special player. There are just a few home games left to see him play. He has been a blast to watch over the years.

Let It Snow!

The story of the game was the snow that was happening outside. That was the only thing in question for most of the day. How much would we get? I got to the stadium very early for the game and just walked around making snokeh photos. It was cold, but worth it. I love my stadium photos throughout the year. Here I was able to combine a few things that I like all in one shot.

More Two For One

It seems like every week during basketball season I have an example of how my floor remote gives me two good photos of a play. Here Fletcher Loyer gets fouled as part of a three point play. My handheld camera gets a tight photo of fletcher at the hoop, and my floor remote gives me more of a sense of place. I need to find ways to work this a little different each week. It might be fun to have a remote much further away from me during games.

Slowing It Down

I was having some fun during this game with slow shutter speeds. I basically spent the entire pregame at 1/15th of a second or slower. During the game I had some fun having the players streak by Marquette head coach Shaka Smart.

A Lucky Bounce

I am always hoping for a loose ball in front of me. I am thinking a few feet away though on the ground. Here though I got really lucky and had the ball go right past me allowing me to make this photo. It is different for me, and at this point in the basketball season anything different is good.

A Great First Half

Purdue had maybe their best half of the season in the first half against Dayton. I think that they were up 32 at the half. A lot of this team is new this season so hopefully they are starting to gel a little as they get to see game action more as a team. They play really well at home and they have one more non conference game at home tomorrow before the Big Ten season starts. I would love to photograph them in Indy so hopefully they continue to improve as the season goes on.
