The 2025 Purdue Christmas Tree
A tradition every year is to go down and photograph the Purdue Christmas tree. This year I kind of did it in two parts. I went early in the morning after dropping my little one off at school to have a better chance to see the tree without as much traffic around it. I am glad that I did as the traffic Friday night would have made this photo impossible. I then went back with the family at night to see the tree. I love the union all year round, but at Christmas it is just a little more special.
Finding A New Look
I have been doing this for nearly a decade and a half at this point. It is hard to do something different. I saw a couple of students setting up this scene while up on the second floor and went down to ask if I could make a photo of it. It is something different and anything different is cool. I ended up meeting two members of the Purdue model railroading club. They meet in the basement of the union and invited us downstairs to see their setup. It was really cool to see some of what they have built down there. They are working on a set that replicates campus right now. That might just be a cool photo story.
The Pink Glove
It took a little patience, but I finally was able to get near the pink glove on the tree. When I started making photos of the tree it had a lot of unique decorations on it. Student organizations had their ornament that would be placed on the tree. Lately it has become a little boring without the unique items on it. It looks more uniform which maybe is the idea. Little things like this glove stick out much more now. Below are a couple of bonus photos from our time at the tree.
