The Purdue Memorial Union Christmas Tree Arrives

A Yearly Tradition

Every year I go down to the Purdue Memorial Union to see the Christmas tree arrive. It has become a yearly tradition that is very fun for me. I have already started my Christmas season, but this always feels like the official start of it. Over the years many things have changed about how the tree gets in the building. They have things to make it much easier all the way around. It is still fun to go and see what the tree looks like, and how it goes in.

Having A Little Fun

While we were waiting for the tree to get stabilized I came up with this idea for a photo. The Union windows are iconic, and any time that I can work them into a photo is a good thing. I decided to try and silhouette one of the workers in the window. This worked out very well for me. There is just enough detail of the worker to make out some features, but most of him goes to silhouette.

The Tree Going Up

It is not as easy as it used to be to make photos of the tree going up. I guess that I should say that it is hard to make something new after all these years. The access used to be better, and at this point I feel like I have made all of the photos. I like how everything comes together here though. A lot of the elements of the photo pull you right to the tree. This is one of my favorites that I have made over the years.
