Three Christmas Cameras At The Haan Museum

Three Cameras At The Haan Museum Christmas

I really like this three camera experiment. It lets me try some things out and learn something at the same time. Bringing film into my photography has made me a little more patient. It has also helped me see things a little differently.

Sony A7RIII With A Sony 24-105mm Lens

This is my everyday walk around lens and camera. It is always the control in this experiment. Rarely is it the photo that I like the best. Here in this instance everything worked really well for me. I used this camera all of the time and I have learned exactly what I can and can’t do with it.

Nikon FE With Expired Kodak 400

This is the last of the expired film that I got from Camera Outfitters. With expired film you never know what you are going to get. I didn’t know how old it was so I overexposed it a little bit. Looking at what I got back though I should have exposed it for much longer. The combo of the bright snow on the ground along with the expired film gave me a very dark exposure.

Fuji AX3 With Lomo 800

This is a film camera that I have come to love. I also love using Lomo 800. Here though things just didn’t work out. Once again I think the snow threw off my exposure. I will be honest that I didn’t factor the bright snow into my photos when I made this. I think that if this were properly exposed I would have liked it more.

Verdict

This is the first time in a while that the Sony mirrorless photo wins the day. I usually like one of the film photos more. In this case they were both underexposed. Like I said at the beginning of the post though part of this process is to learn. I have a safety photo with my Sony in case I mess up the film photos. When you post a couple of photos a day that safety is nice. I love to make photos of the Haan Museum at Christmas. I am sure that I will try this experiment again this year. I should do a little better with what I learned on this trip.
