Seeing Lita Ford Live

Lita Ford is a legend. She started out in a group called the Runaways with Joan Jett. Then she embarked on a solo career that produced a couple of biggest rock hits of the 80’s. She is a rock icon, and it was cool to see her on the bill for the show at Loeb Stadium. The crowd was buzzing just before she took the stage. We knew that we were in for something special.

Three Songs Is Short

You get three songs to make your photos in the pit. Depending on the songs that can be a while, or it can be short. My time in the pit with Lita seemed really short. You want to make an epic photo of an epic artist. I don’t know that I did that. In the future I need to have some sort of gameplan for those three songs if that is even possible. It would be like photographing the first quarter of a football game and having those photos represent the entire game. It really is a crazy way to make concert photos. I understand the why, but as a photographer of course I always want more.

Inspiring The Future

One thing about someone like Lita is that over the years she has inspired many people. As she was getting ready to take the stage I saw this young woman starting to become overwhelmed by the fact that Lita was almost there. It is pretty cool to see the lasting impact that she has had on generations of fans.
