A Little Tale Of The Hornworm
This little hornworm was in my wife’s garden eating her peppers. She moved it to an area where it would not eat her crop. I decided to make some photos of it while it was eating in its new home. This thing was an eating machine. My lens kept fogging up because of the humidity so I left the camera outside to acclimate a little, and then went inside for a little bit. I would come back out and photograph it later. I had to run my daughter to her friends house. I would photograph a bit more when I came home.
The End Of The Hornworm
Well that plan didn’t work out so well. When I came home I couldn’t find the hornworm. I saw a praying mantis in the area though. I had the thought that the odds were slim that they would be near each other. That is when I realized that in the short time that I was gone the praying mantis had eaten nearly the entire worm. All that was left was the back end with all of the waste. It was sort of impressive, but a bad end to the hornworm. It was not the story I wanted to come to the blog with, but it was nature.
