The First Mural Is The Last
This was the first of the seven murals that I saw painted last year during the Wabash Walls Festival. I had this idea for a photo story for the paper showing these artists while they were in town. It didn’t end up working out for the paper, but that might have been the best thing that happened to the photo story. Not being constrained to a small gallery gave me the freedom to go all in and make a huge photo story from the week. It is funny how things work out. Tristan was up on the wall when I was here, but his brother Matt answered all of my dumb questions about murals. I knew nothing walking into this. I just loved the idea of it. This was a great way to get introduced to the process and to start me time with the artists.
Wabash Walls Week
This week I thought that it would be fun to revisit the walls that were painted last year as part of the Wabash Walls project. I don’t know that I have ever been so inspired to try to be more of an artist than I was last year. Watching these murals go from plan to wall was very cool. Every artist seemed to have their own process, but the end result was great for all of them.
