The Three Camera Experiment At The Lafayette Theater
The three camera experiment continues again in downtown Lafayette at the Lafayette Theater. I wish that I could say that I had been wanting to make this photo for a long time, but it came down to the fact that I needed to use a little film up so that I could send it in. I found myself downtown, and with the 200th anniversary of Lafayette I wanted to have that in some of my photos. I had a 50mm lens on one camera so I tried to mimic that with my other two cameras. I usually go wider on this theater, but here I like the zoomed in approach to just see the marquee and the doors. Sometimes you need to restrict yourself to make a different photo.
Sony A7R3 With A 24-105mm Lens
I feel like if you follow this segment of the blog then you know what I am going to say here. This is the setup that I have with my 99% of the time that I am walking around and making photos. I know exactly what I am getting when I press the shutter button. It is the baseline that I judge the photos up against. With that being said I make photos with this setup so much that the look becomes a little boring to me at times. It is hard to win one of these contests because of that.
Minolta Freedom Zoom With Aurora 800
I am not sure what happened here. My little point and shoot film camera works so well for me most of the time. Here even with 800 speed film during the day it made a bad exposure. I would have thought that this could have been longer because of that. It does have a nice old time feel to it, but I wish that it was a little sharper. It is very washed out for some reason.
Sears TLS With The Pentax 35mm Lens And FujiFilm 400 Film
This is a roll of film that was in this camera for over a year. It is a family heirloom so I try to keep using it, but it requires a little more work to use. The meter in the camera does not work so I have to take my own readings. That is good for slowing things down, but I have found that I get impatient with things like that. With that being said I really like how this image turned out. I sort of bracketed the exposure, and it showed me just how much range that this film has. It is amazing to see the results of what I thought was an overexposed image. It was a little test, but it came out amazing.
Final Results
This is a pretty easy one for me to pick a winner. As I have said many times the photos that come out of my day to day walk around camera can become boring for me. The Sony A7R3 image is fine, but I see it all the time. The Minolta point and shoot camera has been amazing, but here it kind of let me down. The FujiFilm 400 film in my old Sears camera though was amazing. It gave me an image that I really liked. It has a lot of things in it that I liked. Which one is your favorite?
